About this site
The Jane Sea is a former cargo freighter scuttled off Aruba's southwestern coast in the mid-1980s to create an artificial reef and dive attraction. It sits upright on a sandy bottom, reaching a maximum depth of around 28.3 metres, and its largely intact structure makes it popular for wreck penetration among divers with the appropriate training. Coral growth has colonized the hull over the decades since it was sunk, and divers have reported angelfish, barracuda, eagle rays, glassfish, jacks and amberjack, moray eels, nurse sharks, octopus, and sea turtles around the wreck. Depths here allow for diving with some open water experience, though the interior sections still call for wreck diving skills.
