About this site
Jina Reef sits off Juani Island, part of the Mafia Island archipelago in Tanzania's Pwani region, within the wider Mafia Island Marine Park area of the Indian Ocean. The reefs around this southern part of the archipelago are typically reached by boat from Mafia Island itself. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 26 metres and is rated an advanced dive, with divers noting tricky diving procedures here that call for some experience with the site's conditions. Divers have also reported damselfish, grouper, humphead wrasse, reef sharks, sea turtles, snapper, and sweetlips around the reef.
