Kinasi Pass

Kinasi Pass sits within the channel between Mafia Island and Juani Island, part of Mafia Island Marine Park off the Pwani coast of Tanzania. The pass connects the shallower lagoon waters to the deeper Mafia Channel, an area shaped by strong tidal flow between the islands, and it is this current that defines the dive. It reaches a maximum depth of around 26 metres over a rocky bottom and is rated an advanced dive because of the strong currents running through the pass. Barracuda are a reliable sighting here, and divers have also reported eagle rays, grouper, lionfish, parrotfish, snapper, sweetlips, trevally, and triggerfish moving through the channel.
