About this site
Various spellings abound for this vessel. After a stop in Port Huron, where she was arrested until outstanding bills were paid, the Breden headed up the lake bound for Bay City, in tow of the Winslow. She was heavily loaded with 600 tons of coal. A gale came up and she fell apart under the strain, her bow tearing loose from the remaining hull. The Captain and one other crewman made it to shore. Lies in about 13.7 m; sank 1899.
