Kangaroo Gorge is an intermediate wall dive on the East End of Grand Cayman, in the High Rock zone. The mooring pin is at 20 m (67 ft) and the wall drops to about 30 m (100 ft). It is named for an Australian divemaster who made it his favourite site in the 1980s.
The dive starts by dropping through a swim-through, the gorge itself. It sits a little deeper than most tunnels on East End, and you can go over the top instead. Occasional current brings good visibility and marine life, and the coral and sponge coverage is among the best on East End.
Sand patches at around 21 m (70 ft) give a good chance of Spotted Eagle Rays feeding on buried crustaceans. Clouds of displaced sand show where one is hunting. Nitrox is useful at these depths.
