About this site
Kata Bay sits off Karon on the west coast of Phuket, Thailand, facing the Andaman Sea, with a reef bottom reaching a maximum depth of around 30 metres. It is rated a beginner dive despite currents that can run strong, so conditions are worth checking before entry. Divers have reported a wide range of life on the reef, including angelfish, clownfish, grouper, snapper, wrasse, parrotfish, octopus, nudibranchs, and seahorses, along with occasional sightings of barracuda, mackerel, squid, scorpionfish, manta rays, and even mola mola passing through.
