Kayangan Lake

Kayangan Lake sits above Coron on Coron Island in the Calamian group of northern Palawan, reached by a climb over limestone karst from a mooring on Coron Bay. It is often cited as one of the cleanest bodies of water in the Philippines, framed by steep jagged cliffs and a small stilted village of the Tagbanua people at its base. Access is managed by the local Tagbanua community, who hold ancestral domain over Coron Island and its lakes. Divers and snorkelers here have reported black longspine urchin, blackspotted puffer, Bleeker's parrotfish, boring giant clam, copperband butterflyfish, eightband butterflyfish, Indo-Pacific sergeant major, moon wrasse, ocellaris anemonefish, and vermiculate angelfish among the life around the submerged rock formations and the halocline where fresh and salt water meet.
