About this site
Kimbe Bay lies on the north coast of New Britain island in Papua New Guinea, within the Bismarck Sea. It is known among divers for its volcanic seamounts and reef pinnacles rising from deep water, supporting a high diversity of hard and soft corals along with reef fish. The bay is often cited as one of the more biodiverse marine areas in the wider Coral Triangle region, with operators typically running dives from live-aboards or resorts based around the town of Kimbe. Its remoteness compared to more heavily trafficked Indo-Pacific dive destinations is part of its draw.
