Klathipa Deep lies off Sri Lanka's northeast coast near Trincomalee, in waters facing the Bay of Bengal. The coordinates place it among the rocky points and reef patches scattered offshore of the Trincomalee harbor area, despite the Tamil Nadu label, which actually refers to the Indian state across the water rather than this stretch of Sri Lankan coastline.
