Kogyo Maru

The Kogyo Maru is one of several Japanese supply ships sunk in Coron Bay during a United States air raid in September 1944. This vessel is believed to have been a cargo or repair ship, and it now lies on its side with cargo holds accessible to divers, including engine parts and what are thought to be aircraft components scattered nearby. The wreck sits on a sand bottom with a maximum depth of around 34 metres, and the dive is rated advanced. It is heavily encrusted with coral and sponge growth, and divers have reported barracuda, batfish, and sweetlips around the hull. Coron's wrecks are known collectively for good visibility and calm conditions, though the depth here and the wreck's structure mean it is best suited to divers with solid wreck experience.
