About this site
Kuroshima Marugu (黒島マルグー) is a large reef between Taketomi, Kuroshima and Iriomote in the Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa, dived at depths of 8 to 26 m from October to April under north to east winds, and it lies on a ferry route. Current can be fast at times, and the offshore coral heads carry impressive stands of gorgonians. Two-spot red snapper, batfish, goatfish, sweepers, tube coral and commensal shrimps and gobies on the whip and black corals are seen.
