L'Astrée lies off Port-Vendres on the Mediterranean coast of the Pyrénées-Orientales, near the Spanish border, along the rocky shoreline stretching toward Cap Béar. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Port-Vendres has long served as a harbor town for this stretch of coast, and dives here are typically reached by boat out of the port, along a shoreline of cliffs and coves.
