About this site
Lac du Bourget east shore site in the Grésine bay below the Aix–Culoz road (L'Arche ou Portail aux Bauches), easily reached by boat. About 40 m deep with a small drop-off then a muddy bottom that is treacherous for orientation, since the centre of the bay tends to shallow again; a compass is essential unless you follow the edge of the wall.
