La Calita

La Calita sits along the Costa Tropical near Almunecar, on the Mediterranean coast of Granada province in Andalusia. This stretch of coastline is known for its rocky coves and easy shore access, with several small dive centers operating out of Almunecar itself. The reef here tops out at around 15 metres and is rated a beginner dive, making it a straightforward option for those diving out of town. Divers have reported damselfish, octopus, seahorses, and wrasse among the rocks, along with mauve stingers, ornate wrasse, ringneck blennies, striped red mullet, and violet sea urchins scattered across the reef. Smaller finds such as Mediterranean violet aeolids have also turned up here, rewarding those who take the time to look closely among the rocks.
