La Fourmigue lies off the coast near Antibes and Juan-les-Pins, in the Var department along the French Riviera in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. This stretch of the Mediterranean coast is dotted with rocky islets and shoals, and dive boats from the marinas around Antibes and Juan-les-Pins commonly run out to these near-shore formations.
