About this site
Lake Jocassee is a deep reservoir in the upstate of South Carolina, formed by a dam impounding the Whitewater, Toxaway, and Horsepass rivers in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The lake is known among freshwater divers for its clarity and for submerged features created when the valley was flooded in the early 1970s, including old roadbeds, foundations, and rock faces that drop into deep water. The Wall follows one such rock face down into the lake, reaching depths of around 80 metres, and is rated a technical dive.
