About this site
Moorea sits in the Society Islands of French Polynesia, just northwest of Tahiti, and its outer reef is fringed by a barrier reef with passes cutting through to deeper water offshore. Le Tombant, meaning "the drop off" in French, refers to a site along this outer slope where the reef gives way to deeper water beyond the barrier. Dive operations on the island typically run out of Papetoai or other spots along the coast.
