Big Dismal Sink is one of the sinkholes within the Leon Sinks Geological Area, part of the Woodville Karst Plain south of Tallahassee, Florida. The area sits over a network of limestone caves and springs typical of this part of the state, where sinkholes formed as the porous bedrock collapsed into underlying voids. It lies within a preserve managed for both hiking and cave diving access.
