About this site
Los Anegados sits within the Marietas Islands, an uninhabited island group off the coast of Nayarit at the mouth of Banderas Bay, reached by boat from Puerto Vallarta. The islands are volcanic in origin and protected as a national park, with dive sites scattered around their rocky shorelines. This site has a rock bottom and reaches a maximum depth of around 9.1 metres, with good visibility, though it is rated advanced due to current and depth. Nurse sharks are found here, and divers have also reported eagle rays, manta rays, moray eels, and tuna, along with strong currents as a hazard to watch for.
