Lovina Reef

Lovina Reef lies off the north coast of Bali near the village of Lovina, in the Buleleng regency, an area better known for its black sand beaches and dolphin watching boats than for reef diving. The coastline here faces the Bali Sea and is calmer than the island's southern shores, sheltered from the larger swells. The reef itself reaches a maximum depth of around 100 metres and is rated a technical dive, with light current and good visibility over a reef bottom. Divers have reported bannerfish, eagle rays, marble rays, snapper, surgeonfish and tuna here, along with occasional sightings of reef sharks, hammerheads and even thresher sharks.
