About this site
In a heavy gale, the Drake lost the line to her sinking consort Michigan, and then collided with the Michigan while trying to take off her crew. She sprung a leak and foundered off Vermilion Point. The Northern Wave and Crescent City rescued the crews of both vessels. The Drake was located in 1978 in 45 ft. Lies in about 15.2 m; sank 1901.
