About this site
Maaya Thila is a coral pinnacle in the Ari Atoll (Alifu Alifu) region of the Maldives, a thila-style reef rising from the atoll floor and popular for both day trips and night dives. It reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres, rated an intermediate dive with medium current, over a reef bottom. The pinnacle's round shape lets divers circle it at varying depths, with caves and overhangs reported around the structure alongside stronger current in places. Stonefish are a confirmed presence on the reef, and divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, batfish, damselfish, eagle rays, frogfish, fusiliers, lionfish, manta rays, octopus, parrotfish, snapper and triggerfish circling the site.
