About this site
Maeda Point sits on the west coast of Okinawa's main island, near the village of Onna, facing the East China Sea. The site is known for a rock formation called Cape Maeda, with a limestone cliff onshore and access to the water through a cavern known as the Blue Cave. Divers and snorkelers commonly enter from the rocks or by boat to explore the cave and the surrounding shallow reef, which tops out at around 10 metres and is rated a beginner dive with good visibility. Its accessibility from shore makes it a popular spot for both certification dives and casual snorkeling trips out of Okinawa's resort areas, and divers have also reported octopus among the rocks.
