About this site

Mainit sits along the Anilao coastline in Mabini, Batangas, part of the Batangas Bay area on the island of Luzon known for its many muck and reef sites accessible by short banca rides from the local resorts. Anilao's coastal barangays, including Anilao proper, string along the peninsula facing Verde Island Passage. The site is a reef with a maximum depth of around 15.2 metres, rated a beginner dive with light current and good visibility. Snapper are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, clownfish, fusiliers, grouper, sweetlips, nudibranchs, seahorses, and even occasional larger animals like manta ray, mola mola, dugong, and whale shark passing through. Some sources mention a cave feature along with fiercer currents than usual, though the site is generally considered easygoing.
