About this site

Mana Crack is an 11 mile (18 km) long sunken barrier reef off the Na Pali Coast of Kauai, with many different drop points. It is the furthest offshore dive site in the state of Hawaii.

There are no moorings to tie up to and the current can be strong, so dives are live drop drifts and the site is considered advanced. Visibility is known to be excellent, and the topography is unusual. Divers with 15 or more dives are recommended, and the dives are fast paced and strenuous.

A deeper first dive is usually between 60 and 100 ft (18 to 30 m), and a second dive on a different drop point is usually shallower, between 45 and 80 ft (14 to 24 m).

Large barracuda, spotted eagle rays and whitetip reef sharks are common. Regular Kauai divers may be surprised by java moray, rainbow runner, grey reef shark, stripebelly puffer, black surgeonfish and wringtail wrasse.
