Mandarin Place

Mandarin Place sits in the Lembeh Strait off the northeastern tip of Sulawesi, a stretch of water known for muck diving over dark volcanic sand. Sites carrying this name in the strait are typically shallow, sheltered spots where mandarinfish shelter in rubble and coral debris and can be observed near dusk during their mating displays. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres, making it accessible for less experienced divers, though patience and good buoyancy help for spotting the small, well camouflaged subjects the strait is famous for. Lembeh as a whole draws divers for macro life such as frogfish, ghost pipefish, and various octopus species rather than for coral walls or big animal encounters.
