About this site
Manila Channel lies in the waters around Puerto Galera on Mindoro, near Medio Island in the Verde Island Passage between Luzon and Mindoro. Dive operators based in Sabang and Puerto Galera run trips out to this channel area, where a sand bottom sits at a maximum depth of around 20 metres and conditions are usually rated intermediate with light current and good visibility. Divers here have reported a wide range of life, including anthias, batfish, damselfish, eagle rays, frogfish, fusiliers, grouper, mantis shrimp, moray eels, nudibranchs, nurse sharks, sea turtles, seahorses, snapper, sweetlips, unicornfish and wrasse, with occasional sightings of octopus, stingrays and even whale sharks. Some divers have also noted lionfish, scorpionfish and stonefish in the area, along with sections of overhead environment worth being aware of.
