Marfield Bay lies along the County Down coastline in Northern Ireland, on the shores of Strangford Lough. This sea lough is known for its narrows and strong tidal flows between the Irish Sea and the inland basin, with the surrounding shoreline made up of small bays and rocky points. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres.
