About this site
Maritime Reef sits along the fringing reef system that surrounds Rarotonga, the main island of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. Dive sites around the island are typically reached by short boat rides from operators based near Avarua, dropping onto the coral slopes and passages that ring the lagoon. This particular site reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have also reported lionfish and moray eels along the reef here.
