About this site
Marsa Assalaya is a protected, sheltered bay offering beach diving across two slopes that descend from 5 metres down to 25 metres, with terrain characterised by coral-rich reef and sandy areas. The site is accessible to all certification levels and is also suitable for snorkellers.
The reef supports a notable variety of marine life, including seahorses, Napoleon fish, crocodile fish, juvenile reef fish, anemonefish, moray eels, lionfish, blue-spotted stingrays, nudibranchs, pipefish, shrimp, and turtles. The coral fauna here is considered particularly distinctive.
Conditions are calm and protected year-round, with light current and great visibility. Water temperature ranges from 22 to 30°C depending on season. The maximum depth of 15 metres and gentle conditions make this a suitable site for beginners.
