About this site

Maya Bay sits off Phuket on Thailand's Andaman Sea coast, a bay long known above water for its steep limestone cliffs enclosing calm, sheltered water. Underwater it reaches a maximum depth of around 18 metres, with light current, good visibility, and a reef bottom, making it a beginner-friendly dive. Manta rays are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported batfish, eagle rays, fusiliers, groupers, leopard or zebra sharks, lionfish, nudibranchs, parrotfish, scorpionfish, sea turtles, snapper, trevally, and wrasse. Some divers have also noted stronger currents at times and a cavern section said to require special training and equipment.
