About this site
Megane Iwa (メガネ岩) is a boat site 3 minutes from Ako harbour on Miyakejima in the Izu Islands, Tokyo, open only in June and October each year. Its three underwater arches and dense fish life are the draw, with boarfish, morwong and redlip morwong living in such large groups that they block the view ahead. Ocean sunfish, batfish, triggerfish, dogtooth tuna, longnose butterflyfish, juvenile emperor angelfish and semicircle angelfish are also seen.
