About this site
Merkanti Reef lies along the coastline at San Giljan (St Julian's) on Malta's northeast shore, a stretch of the island known for its rocky shore-entry dive points close to town. It is used as a house reef by a nearby dive operator, making it an easily accessible shore dive rather than a boat site. The surrounding coast features the limestone terrain typical of this part of Malta. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 20 metres and is rated a beginner dive, in keeping with its easy shore access.
