About this site
Under command of her namesake, Capt Michael Groh, she was downbound with lumber from Marquette when she broke a steam line to her engine, leaving her to drift until she grounded near where the Elma was lost. Nearly alf of her 325,000 bd-ft cargo from the Dead River Mill was salvaged but the remainder lies scattered on the bottom along with portions of her hull. Lies in about 3.7 m; sank 1895.
