Monastery Beach lies along the Carmel coast of California, just south of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve in Monterey County. It is a shore entry site known among Northern California divers for its steep sand beach and often heavy surf, with dive access dropping quickly into deeper water offshore. Depths reach around 18.3 metres, reflecting the steep drop-off just past the surf line that gives the site its reputation for fast changes in conditions.
