Mushroom Forest lies along the leeward coast of Curaçao, named for the large mushroom-shaped coral heads that formed as their bases eroded faster than their tops over time. It sits in the same stretch of fringing reef common to Curaçao's southwest shore, typically reached by boat or shore entry from the nearby coastline, with a reef bottom reaching a maximum depth of around 12 metres. It's rated a beginner dive and visibility here is generally great, making the mushroom-shaped formations easy to appreciate against the flatter reef terrain elsewhere along this coast. Divers have also reported angelfish, barracuda, parrotfish, and surgeonfish moving among the coral heads.
