Oil Rig Reef sits off Kalimantan Timur, in Brunei's stretch of waters along the northwest coast of Borneo, an area shaped by the region's offshore oil and gas installations. Sites near decommissioned or active platforms in this part of the South China Sea often form reef structure around the submerged rig legs, drawing local dive operators to explore them. Divers here have also reported frogfish among the growth on the structure.
