About this site
Gendarme (ジャンダルム) is a submerged reef at Okinoshima off Itoshima on the Genkai coast of Fukuoka Prefecture, dived by boat with an average depth of around 35 m. It is restricted to advanced divers and is the most demanding site in the area, sitting where the Kuroshio Current meets the island. Coral in full bloom and dense schools of fish cover the rock without a gap.
