About this site
Outer Rock lies off the coast of County Clare in the province of Munster, on Ireland's Atlantic seaboard, a stretch of coastline marked by exposed rocky reefs and swells rolling in from the open Atlantic. Divers here have reported a reef community that includes jewel anemones, dead man's fingers, and knotted thread hydroids, along with common sea stars and spiny starfish among the rock. Atlantic black sea cucumbers and European edible sea urchins have also been noted on the bottom.
