About this site
Pointer Reef lies off New Providence island in the Bahamas, the island home to Nassau, and is typically reached by a short boat run out of one of Nassau's marinas. The reef tops out at around 12.2 metres and is rated a beginner dive. Divers have reported a wide range of reef fish here, including Atlantic blue tang, sergeant majors, blueheaded wrasse, grey angelfish, and several parrotfish species such as queen, stoplight, and striped parrotfish, along with Spanish hogfish and trumpetfish over the coral and purple sea fans. Barracuda and nurse sharks have also been reported patrolling the site.
