About this site
Ponta da Calheta in Madeira offers dramatic underwater cliffs and volcanic formations teeming with marine life. Expect clear waters with visibility often exceeding 20 meters. Schools of barracuda and groupers patrol the drop-offs, while moray eels hide in crevices. The site features caves and overhangs perfect for exploration. Currents can be strong, making it ideal for drift diving. Depths range from 10 to 30 meters, suitable for intermediate divers. The rocky seabed hosts colorful sponges and occasional stingrays gliding by. Water temperatures stay mild year-round.
