About this site
Rated by Jacques Cousteau as one of the world's top dive sites. A warm current sweeping down from the tropics meets temperate water at these eroded volcanic islands off Northland, filling caves, arches and drop-offs with an unusual mix of subtropical and temperate life — sponge gardens, stingrays, moray eels, and huge seasonal schools of fish. Walls, swim-throughs and the vast Rikoriko sea cave suit a range of divers; the water is cool.
