Porcos de Fora lies off Cabo Frio on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, in the offshore waters near the Ilha dos Porcos formations east of the town. This part of the Rio de Janeiro coast is known for cold upwelling currents that bring nutrient rich water from deeper Atlantic sources, making it a popular base for boat dives out of Cabo Frio and Arraial do Cabo.
