Punta Arena Canyons

Punta Arena Canyons, also called Small Cut, is a deep cavern dive off Ambergris Caye, a short boat ride north along the barrier reef. It has vertically walled canyons, tunnels, caves and deep sand channels between them.

Reaching the site means negotiating a narrow passage through the barrier, which can make it a difficult site to reach in rough weather.

The tops of the coral ridges are mostly at 60 to 75 ft (18 to 23 m), but exploring the tunnel takes you below 90 ft (27 m). The main attraction is a narrow tunnel two canyons north of the entry point. It winds through the reef for about 75 ft (23 m) and exits at 100 ft (30 m).
