About this site
Punta Tam sits along the coast near Mahahual, on the Costa Maya stretch of the Yucatan Peninsula in Quintana Roo. This part of the Mexican Caribbean coast fronts the Mesoamerican Reef system, with dive and snorkel outings typically run from Mahahual by small boat. The site is shallow, reaching only around 3 metres, and is considered a beginner dive. Divers have reported manta rays, sea turtles, and even tiger sharks passing through here.
