About this site
40 Cañones lies along the reef system off Mahahual, on the Costa Maya coast of Quintana Roo in southern Mexico, a stretch of the Yucatan Peninsula's Caribbean shore south of the Banco Chinchorro atoll and served by dive operators based in the small town of Mahahual itself. The site is a wreck reaching a maximum depth of around 25 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Divers have reported grouper, lobster, moray eels, and pufferfish around the site.
