About this site
Rapopo Wreck lies in East New Britain, off Papua New Guinea's Gazelle Peninsula near Rabaul, an area well known for World War II era wreckage left from Japanese military operations in the region. The wreck sits in the waters off Kokopo, close to the old Rapopo plantation and airstrip area, in a part of the Bismarck Sea heavily used as a Japanese base during the war. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 23 metres and is rated an advanced dive.
