About this site
The Reeuwijkse Plassen is a cluster of lakes near Reeuwijk in the province of Zuid-Holland, formed from historic peat extraction, and the Surfplas is one of these interconnected lakes used for water sports and diving. It sits in the low-lying polder landscape between Gouda and Bodegraven, typical of this reclaimed peatland region of the western Netherlands. The Surfplas reaches a maximum depth of around 40 metres, unusually deep for a lake of this type, and is rated an advanced dive.
