The Reliance wreck lies off the coast of New Jersey, well out into the Atlantic based on its coordinates, in an area typical of the many fishing vessels and steamers that rest along this stretch of the eastern seaboard. New Jersey's offshore waters hold a dense concentration of wrecks from decades of maritime traffic and the region remains a popular hub for wreck diving out of ports like Manasquan, Point Pleasant, and Atlantic City.
