About this site
Ribbon Reef lies along the KwaZulu-Natal coast of South Africa, in the Nomvunya area near the Maputaland shoreline, where reef systems run parallel to shore along this stretch of the northern coast fronting the Indian Ocean. The reef reaches a maximum depth of around 35 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Moray eels are a regular sighting on the reef, and divers have also reported barracuda, grouper, jacks, nudibranchs, parrotfish, pipefish, reef sharks, rhinopias, scorpionfish, and sea turtles here.
